Darvocet Addiction
Darvocet Addiction is a very serious problem that can affect not only the addict but their loved ones as well. Darvocet is typically prescribed to relieve mild to moderate pain, as well as treating fevers. Darvocet, if taken in high doses or with other drugs or alcohol, has been associated with numerous drug related deaths. Being made primarily from acetaminophen and propoxyphene, it is not surprising at all that Darvocet can be addictive. Propoxyphene has very addictive qualities given its similarities to methadone and the acetaminophen in Darvocet can actually be dangerous and cause liver damage. In fact, the medical journal Clinical Pharmacology even argued that propoxyphene’s (one of the most potent components of Darvocet) most prominent effect may be its addictive quality. Just like other narcotics, Darvocet produces a physical and psychological addiction making the treatment of Darvocet Addiction the same as it is for other narcotics. Often with Darvocet Addiction, you will see the addict jump from doctor to doctor trying to get prescriptions for the drug. Darvocet triggers the brain’s reward system producing feelings of well-being. The promise of reward is intense so that when the feelings wear off the individual will crave more. If the individual is suffering from withdrawal, they may show symptoms such as Anxiety, Loss of appetite and weight, Fatigue, Nausea, Diarrhea, and Physical cravings. Darvocet may also reduce a person’s level of consciousness, impairing their awareness of their surroundings or the way that they think. In some cases of Darvocet Addiction, there may be instances of overdose, which in some extreme cases can lead to unconsciousness or death. If an addict has overdosed, they may show signs or symptoms such as Blush tinge to the skin, Coma, Convulsions, Decreased or difficult breathing to the point of temporary stoppage, Decreased heart function, Extreme sleepiness, Irregular heartbeat, Low blood pressure, Pinpoint pupils becoming dilated later, Stupor, Abdominal pain, Excessive sweating, General feeling of illness, Kidney failure, Liver problems, Loss of appetite, Nausea, Vomiting, Confusion, Deafness, Headache, Ringing in the ears, Rapid breathing, Rapid pulse, and Mental dullness.
