Alcohol Addiction
Alcohol Addiction is the most common & commonly known addiction in the country. Alcohol Addiction frequently affects not only the addict but can be extremely hard on those around them. The addict may not want to admit they have a problem with Alcohol Addiction but once they have admitted their problem they can them begin to seek help.
Alcohol Addiction can cause damage to every organ in a person’s body and can damage a developing fetus. Alcohol Addiction can alter and impair a person’s brain function and motor skills. Alcohol Addiction can be hard to detect simply because alcohol is such a common thing in today’s society for example, sharing a bottle a wine over dinner or social drinks with friends after work. These are fine until alcohol begins to take over a person’s life.
Some of the signs of Alcohol Addiction include:
Not being able to stick to “just one” drink, feeling guilty or ashamed about drinking habits, lying or hiding drinking habits, blacking out or forgetting what happened while drinking, having friends, family members or coworkers that are concerned or worried about drinking habits, Regularly drinking more than originally intended, neglecting responsibilities and/or being frequently late or absent from work and “needing” a drink to relax or feel better or to deal with problems. Also, using alcohol when it’s physically dangerous for yourself or others, experiencing legal or financial problems because of the Alcohol Addiction, or continuing to drink even when it’s causing trouble in relationships.
Alcohol Addiction can be tied to many different things including genetics, social or home environment and mental health. Remember, even the “occasional” drink can be dangerous for a person who suffers from Alcohol Addiction.
